A formal statement of kinship, respect, unity, and non-domination in the Tribe’s relationship to Black and Indigenous peoples of the Americas.
The Official Tribe of Shabazz recognizes the Black and Indigenous tribes and peoples of the Americas as family. We respect the tribal names, histories, traditions, and identities by which our brothers and sisters know themselves today.
Different tribal names need not divide people who understand themselves to be family. The Tribe does not require another people to surrender its name, history, traditions, government, or identity in order to be treated with respect and kinship.
Our relationship is based on recognition, respect, kinship, cooperation, and mutual dignity. We seek unity without erasing identity, cooperation without domination, and family without requiring uniformity.
This principle is not a claim to absorb, replace, govern, or speak for another tribe or people. It does not erase the distinct legal status, sovereignty, citizenship rules, traditions, or histories of other nations, tribes, communities, or organizations.
It is a statement of how The Official Tribe of Shabazz chooses to approach relationship: with respect for difference and a commitment to unity wherever unity can be built honestly.
